After church we went to Bud Jones restaurant for dinner. I had turkey and trimmings.
We stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home so that Phoebe could buy some more yarn.

The electrician and his helper came today and worked on the wiring. They grounded the wires from the stove and the outlet by the door to the garage.
I went to Wendy's and brought back quarter-pounders and frosties for Phoebe and me for lunch.
Later, Phoebe and I went grocery shopping.
We had hot dogs and corn for supper.

I can hardly believe it. I am 70 years old today. That sounds so much older than I feel. I am thankful to God for all His blessings and for giving me good health and all I need.
After I got off work at noon, I went home and had lunch, then went to the beauty shop.
This evening we went to the Little Red Barn steak house and I had grilled chicken breast, salad, baked potato, roll, and coffee.
I have gotten lots of email birthday greetings, cards and phone calls today. Edna, Lorie, and J.D. all called.
An electrician came to check our wiring today and will come back tomorrow.

It didn't clear off today but was wet and dreary all day.
At lunchtime, Melanie, Phoebe, Nancy, Jim and I went to El Tipico restaurant for a birthday luncheon. I had the chopped sirloin steak, baked potato, salad, roll and coffee. It was delicious.
Phoebe had made a carrot cake for us to have for dessert after we got back to the office.
Melanie gave me a potted plant called Schlefflera (or dwarf umbrella plant). I looked it up on Wikapedia and found the following information about it. It showed pictures but they won't copy onto this blog.

It is an evergreen shrub growing to 3-4 m tall, with weak, often trailing stems scrambling over other vegetation. The leaves are palmately compound, with 7-9 leaflets, the leaflets 9-20 cm long and 4-10 cm broad (though often smaller in cultivation). The flowers are produced in a 20 cm panicle of small umbels, each umbel 7-10 mm diameter with 5-10 flowers.

It is commonly grown as a houseplant, popular for its tolerance of neglect and poor growing conditions. Numerous cultivars have been selected for variations in leaf colour and pattern, often variegated with creamy-white to yellow edges or centres, and dwarf forms.
The umbrella plant lends itself easily to the bonsai form and is popular as an indoor bonsai.

The plant prefers higher light if possible, but can adapt to a wide variety of light levels. As a tropical plant it likes moisture, but avoid letting the plant sit in water after you water it. It likes to be moist but not wet.

Under the right conditions, this plant will produce aerial roots that, when they reach the ground, will convert to fully functional roots. They give the plant an unusual and interesting appearance. Three conditions must be maintained for the plant to produce them: a high growth rate, insufficient trunk roots (the plant is root bound or these roots are pruned) and constant, very high humidity.
After we got home, Richard and Melverie came by and brought a white cake with chocolate icing that she had baked for my birthday. We had some with coffee while she was here.

It was raining steadily when I got up at 4:00 a.m. and is still raining an hour later.
I fed the cats and ran the dishwasher and made coffee. Precious wouldn't go out in the rain. I can't blame her.
It rained a lot today. We got around 2 inches.
The art group cancelled for today because of it, and choir practice was cancelled for tonight, but the women's group had a good meeting and a good number of people.
Phoebe went to the dentist this morning to get imprints taken for a new tooth on her partial plate to replace one that was pulled a few weeks ago.

It wasn't quite as cold when I got up at 4:00 this morning.
Phoebe went to work with me this morning and helped Barbara price items for the rummage sale. After a couple of hours though, her back seized up and she had to quit. At lunchtime she went to Little Caesar's and got us a pizza for lunch. Then I took her home and brought the car back.
The company repairman came back out to work on the stove this afternoon.
After work I went to the locksmith's and picked up his 2d half 2009 books to do for him.
Then I went to Wal-Mart and picked up my blood pressure prescription and did a little shopping.
For supper I just had a grapefruit.

I slept until the alarm went off this morning and dreamed lots of crazy dreams.
I called Wal-Mart Pharmacy and ordered a refill of my blood pressure prescription.
Then the locksmith that I do bookkeeping for called. He has more paperwork ready for me to do. So I told him I would pick it up tomorrow afternoon when I come to that side of town to pick up my prescription.
Sis brought subway tuna sandwiches to the office for us for lunch. For supper I had tomato soup and bread, butter and pear honey, and an apple. Sis fixed cream of mushroom soup for herself with bread and butter and pear honey.
I got two birthday cards today.
We watched Antiques Road Show.
