Sis woke up with a horrible migraine headache and upset stomach this morning and it continued on throughout the day.

I did several loads of laundry – first mine, then hers, and then I put the new 2010 registration sticker on my car’s windshield. The old one would expire at the end of March 2009.

The neighbors across the street from Ernest had a yard sale today. I went over and looked, but the only thing I bought were two candy bars that their children were selling for school.

The bank statement came today.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, and salad for supper.

After church this morning we went to El Tipico restaurant for dinner. I had a super chef salad with chicken fajita strips on it. It was delicious, but so big that I brought half home to take to work for my lunch tomorrow.

My computer monitor quit working this morning. Fortunately I still had my wide screen monitor that quit working awhile back. I plugged it in and now it is working. I kept the one that quit in case the same thing happens to it sometime.

It was a little cool when I left for work this morning but it warmed up nicely. We got an Easter card from Sue W. today with a package of snapdragon seeds in it.
I took the rest of my salad for lunch today.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Exodus 31-40
Ernestine thought the Bible study was today so she came by the handicap bus for it. Then she had to wait until 1 p.m. for the bus to pick her back up to take her to her college class. I went to Little Caesar’s at noon and brought back a pizza for her and me to have for lunch. I also brought a 2 liter bottle of Diet Pepsi.

When I got home this evening, I wasn’t hungry but Sis was, so she decided to go to Little Caesar’s and get herself a pizza too. They are only $3.99 on Tuesdays.

Marshall brought in the April newsletter today and I ran off the copies of it and mailed out the ones that go to shut-ins.
We had chicken tacos for supper – with the crispy taco shells.

I got my hair done after work today.

This evening we put two twin mattresses out at the curb for the city brush & large item pick-up. However, someone soon stopped and got them. Evidently they were better than what they already had.

We had macaroni and cheese with hamburger for supper. Later Sis made a loaf of banana bread. It was delicious.

We went to Snoga’s for supper tonight. Then we went on to Office Depot and I got ink cartridges for the office.

I got groceries after I got off work. I saved $20.30 with coupons. I bought part of a ham and got eight things free with coupons. I also got two cans of coffee for the price of one.

Sis's glasses broke this morning and she had to buy new ones. She was able to pick them up this evening after she got off work.

I got up at 4:00 a.m. Ertis called yesterday afternoon and asked if I can pick her up and take her to church this morning. Then later after I got to church, Ken R. called and said he had missed the bus. So I picked him and dropped him off at church for Sunday School, then went on to Ertis’s home and picked her up.
After church, Sis and I went out for dinner. I had turkey and dressing, carrots, a bowl of mixed fruit, whole wheat bread and water.

From there we went to Wal-Mart so Sis could get some more red yarn for the afghan she is crocheting. I didn’t need anything there so I sat in the attached McDonald’s restaurant and had coffee while I waited for her.

She fixed brown & serve rolls and hamburger gravy for supper.

It was predicted to get down to freezing this morning so I brought the potted plants back in and put them in the garage. Later today it got into the 70’s. Perhaps that was our last freeze for the season.

Sis brought sandwiches from Burger King for our lunch. She worked today also and is scheduled to work every day this week.

Sis got a pizza at Little Caesar’s and we both came home from work and ate it for lunch.

After work this afternoon I went to Payless Shoe Store and bought a new pair o shoes. Then I got a few groceries. I stopped at the library, but the book I wanted wasn’t in, so I put a hold on it. The person at the desk said it will probably be in by the end of the week.

It was raining when I got up this morning and the rain increased in intensity until we had a real thunderstorm. Trees were knocked down in some parts of the city and caused a good bit of damage. None seem to have been damaged near me though.

It has turned much colder than yesterday and when I stepped outside, the wind felt bitterly cold.

We stayed home most of the day. I did go to the church and check the mail late this afternoon.

There was a wedding at church at noon today. It was just starting as I got off work and left. I went to the beauty shop.

Sis had a funeral meal at her church so after she got off work at 2 p.m., she came home and took some food she had prepared to the church.

It was 4:45 a.m. when I got up. It has been raining ever since I got up and seems to be raining harder now at 6:00 a.m.

Sis worked today.

I ate the rest of the King Ranch casserole for lunch today. For supper I had an egg salad sandwich and a slice of banana bread.

We got our 2010 Census forms today. I filled them out. We also got our brush pickup card. We have a couple old mattresses to put out.

I took a can of Progresso Beef-Vegetable soup to work and heated it in the microwave for my lunch.

The food pantry was open this afternoon at the church. One of the volunteers said they served 77 families.

After I got off work I went to the grocery store and spent $55.26. When I got home Sis had supper ready. We had kielbasa sausages on whole wheat buns.

I took my monthly dose of Boniva at 4:30 a.m. I felt a little nauseated part of the morning but it finally went away.

I came home for lunch and had the rest of my pork steak from yesterday with the leftover rice and a slice of banana bread.

For supper tonight I had an egg salad sandwich.

We went to the library and I turned in the book I just finished and got another.

Then we went to a little park not far away that has a walking path and walked one lap around it before driving back home.

I read a couple chapters of the book tonight and we watched part of Antiques Road Show.

It was about 10 p.m. when I went to bed.

Daylight Savings Time started today.

There were 55 in church this morning, including a number of children as visitors.
After church we went out for lunch. I had chicken rice soup, barbecued pork steak, green bean casserole, fried zucchini, pineapple with cottage cheese, and a corn muffin. I brought part of the pork steak and Phoebe’s rice home. She had an enchilada plate.

We talked to Aunt Betty W. on the phone this afternoon.

Saturday, March 13, 2010 Exodus 25, Psalm 75, John 4

We went to Wal-Mart this morning. I got an expandable file and a package of labels. Sis did some shopping too. Then we went to the ursery and looked around. We didn’t find buy anything there. We stopped at a rummage sale next door to it but didn’t buy anything.

We went to the post office and she mailed a package. Then we stopped at a couple more yard sales. She spent $2 at one of them on some small items.

We were going to have lunch at a taqueria restaurant across from Home Depot but it was packed with customers so we didn’t stop. We went to Home Depot and while she was inside shopping, I got a phone call from the man who mows our yard that he was at the house, doing our yard. So when she came back out, we went home
We had a package of hamburgers in the freezer, so we micro waved a couple of them for our lunch.

This afternoon I took a nap. I’ve had a sinus headache most of the afternoon.
For supper tonight we went to that taqueria restaurant again. Neither of us liked it and we have no plans to go back there again.

I worked until noon today. Then I came home and had an eggt salad sandwich before going to the beauty shop for my weekly appointment. On the way home from the beauty shop, I stopped at the store and got 4 sharpie pens. I also went by the office and checked the mail.

This evening I took this picture on my webcam.



For supper I had a bowl of cereal. I did a couple loads of laundry tonight.

We watched a TV show, "Who Do You Think You Are" put on by ancestry.com.

Thursday, March 11, 2010 Exodus 23, Psalm 73, John 2
It was another of those nights...but it is my own fault. I started to watch the Fox news at 9:00 p.m. and there was a special program on that didn't look interesting to me. I decided to just go ahead and go to bed early. Then I woke up a little after 1 a.m. feeling wide awake.

Calvin got up when I did and had to have a little treat. I gave him a pouch of moist cat food. He ate most of it. I poured myself a cup of coffee from the thermal carafe. It was only luke warm but I didn't bother microwaving it, just drank it that way. Caffeine doesn't keep me awake unless I really overdo it and drink a lot of cups of coffee in the last few hours before I go to bed.

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 14, 2010. That is this weekend. I hadn't heard anything about it until a couple of days ago and it caught me off guard, thinking "so soon?”

We have really had warm weather the last few days. It has been getting up to nearly 80 degrees every day. I guess that really isn't so unusual for here but we have had such an unusual winter with much colder weather than most years.

I went back to bed at 2:00 a.m. and slept two more hours before Calvin kept meowing at my bedroom door until I got up again.

The boss was gone all day. She had a District Professionals meeting. Then she was going to go on to Austin since tomorrow is her regular day off. It was fairly quiet at work and I was able to catch up on a lot of filing and get the bulletins finished with the wedding invitations inserted in them. I also wrote some checks to be signed Sunday when the authorized signers are there.

I came home for lunch today and we had crispy tacos.
This evening after I got off work we went to the Polish-American Club for their fund-raiser meal of kielbasa sausage, sauerkraut, creamed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, bread and coffee. It was quite a meal for $7.50 each. They put three good-sized pieces of the sausage on each plate and the sandwich bags of bread they passed out each had a slice of white and a slice of wheat bread. The applesauce was on a table with sliced onions and jalapeno peppers. I was quite full and didn’t go back and get any applesauce. Taped music was playing and just as we finished and were leaving, they were starting karaoke. A little girl who looked to be around 5 or 6 years old was going to sing. They were planning to have more music for the next few hours. We wanted to get home before dark so we left.

We did stop at a yard sale that was still going on down the street. I didn’t see anything I wanted, but Sis bought a can of spackling compound. This evening she covered the outside of an empty almond can with spackle and buttons in the spackle all around to decorate. It looks very pretty. She left it sit to dry overnight.

We got home in time to watch Jeopardy, but as usual I fell asleep in the recliner while watching it. I did rouse in time to see who won. Then we watched part of the evening news before turning it off.

I called a this morning to order 20 Easter lilies for the church. They agreed to deliver them on Friday morning, April 2 (Good Friday). It will cost $188.75.

I also called a plumber and arranged for him to come out and make a number of plumbing repairs at the church. He came out before noon and worked for a couple of hours and got them all repaired. He only charged $140.25.

I called Kathy at the district office and told her that Gene will be our administrative board chairperson for 2010 and Sylvia will be the lay leader.

I printed out the bulletins for next Sunday and ran off copies. I still need to put the wedding invitation inserts inside for Zachary's wedding on March 19th.

Sis worked until 12:30 p.m. at the temp office. Then she went to the bakery outlet and picked up bread for the food pantry for next week. She brought 100 loaves and other bread items and we put them in the refrigerators and freezers downstairs in the kitchen.

She had stopped at a fast food place and picked up lunch for us: chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy, and Dr. Pepper.

This evening we had leftover macaroni con queso for supper, with banana bread for dessert.

We had a finance meeting this afternoon. I gave the treasurer’s report.

The cable bill came today. Other than that, everything was advertising.

Sis worked all day today at the temp office. On the way home this evening she picked up a pizza from Little Caesar’s for our supper.

It was raining when I got up at 4:00 this morning.

I had a roast beef sandwich, coffee and a banana for breakfast.
I was really busy at work today, updating files, getting reports ready for the Health Cabinet and Finance meetings, and more.

Sis had a dental appointment this morning, but at noon she brought some cheeseburger soup for lunch.

For supper this evening I had another roast beef sandwich.

I read a couple more chapters of the library book aloud.

I took a library book back to the library this morning and got the next one in the series (Lillian Jackson Braun’s “The Cat Who Sang for the Birds”. I have it in regular-size print, but got it at the library in large print, as it is so much easier to read with my cataract. I also went to the store and got some groceries. Meanwhile, Phoebe was helping get ready for the next rummage sale at her church.

I made Macaroni Con Queso for lunch and we had green beans with it. It was delicious. For supper I fixed a rump roast in the slow cooker. It turned out very tender. I copied both recipes from BillyMax’s blog. The roast called for putting the roast in the slow cooker, pouring a package of dry onion soup mix over it and then pouring enough of a 12-oz. Coke over all to nearly cover the roast. The slow cooker was set too high and all the Coke evaporated and caramelized on the bottom, but the roast didn’t burn. I added a cup of water and let it sit until we got back from Wal-Mart. Then I took it out and sliced it and we had roast beef sandwiches for supper. It was really tender and delicious. The Macaroni Con Queso recipe called for three kinds of cheese: cream cheese, shredded Cheddar, and shredded Monterey Jack. The macaroni was put in the bottom of a greased baking pan without being cooked first. Then I mixed 2 ½ cups of milk with the cream cheese, added garlic salt, basil, and pepper and poured that over the macaroni. I stirred in a can of drained, diced tomatoes and ½ cup each of the shredded cheeses. I covered it tightly and baked it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, then stirred it and sprinkled another ½ cup each of the shredded cheeses on top. I then baked it, uncovered, for 45 more minutes. The recipe had said for 30 more minutes, but our oven may bake cooler than some because the macaroni wasn’t done at 30 minutes.

I called Wal-Mart Pharmacy this morning and ordered refills of my prescriptions. This afternoon Phoebe and I went to Wal-Mart and I picked them up and also bought some peanut butter, facial tissues, and kitchen trash bags.

Today and tomorrow the church where I work is having a rummage sale.

It went really well today and they sold quite a lot. It will run again tomorrow. Usually the second day isn't nearly as good as the first. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

One of the ladies brought chicken salad, tuna salad, and pimiento cheese sandwiches for the workers. Others brought desserts: chocolate cake, brownies, chocolate covered Chinese noodles, pineapple coffeecake and orange coffeecake. Phoebe brought the pineapple coffeecake.

I made copies of the March newsletters today and will mail some out tomorrow.

I sent in my car/truck insurance payment today; also the home insurance and the insurance on the home appliances/ac/heater/etc.

Gloria emailed Sis that Aunt Charlotte died about 2:30 this morning.

I talked to Fred and Seth on LogitechVid this afternoon.

It was pretty warm out today. After I got home from work I put the potted plants back outside. I've had them in the garage for 2 or 3 weeks, but no freezes are predicted for the next week. Maybe we won't get any more now.

I took a turkey & cheese sandwich to work today for my lunch.

After work today I went to the grocery store and paid the church's gas/electric bills. Today was the due date and if not paid today, we would have to have paid late fees on each of them.

I bought a shredder for the church that had been donated for the rummage sale. It is only a personal size, but should be fine for small amounts of shredding.

We talked to Fred this evening. He hasn't been feeling well today.
