National Pancake Day

We went to IHOP early this morning but they weren't giving the free short stack until 7 a.m. We got there before 6 a.m. So we stopped at What-a-Burger, but they weren't open yet either. So we went home and cooked breakfast.

The city garbage truck went through our parking lot at work this morning and clipped out telephone wires, cutting them in two. We were without phone or internet service as a result. The trustee chairperson called the phone company and they said they can't get out to fix it until probably Thursday. What a nuisance! Fortunately I had the call forwarding on to my cell phone, so I am still able to answer incoming calls. But I had couldn't get online to check their email.

After I got off work this afternoon we went to a different IHOP for supper and got our pancakes. We gave a donation to the Children's Miracle Network.

A Rainy Chilly Start to the Week

It was chilly and drizzly when I went to work this morning. According to the internet, it has gotten up to 60 degrees, but has been overcast and drizzling rain most of the day and sure doesn't feel that warm.

For lunch we had the taco salad left over from yesterday and a couple of oranges. I had eaten two slices of whole wheat bread, peanut butter, a banana, and a carton of strawberry yogurt for breakfast this morning - with coffee, of course.

Right now the plans are to have a chicken-vegetable pie for supper, but that could change.

Sunday evening

We had a short business meeting after church this morning; then I took the lady home that I take to and from church each Sunday.

I had taco salad for lunch today and there is enough left for another meal – perhaps tomorrow or the next day. We’ve still got lots of fish and fries left from yesterday’s lunch too.

Yesterday was our youngest brother’s birthday. We talked to him this afternoon and he had gotten his new false teeth yesterday. Now he is looking forward to being able to eat corn on the cob and steak again.

It is a little chilly here today and overcast. I’ve got a little sinus headache.

I finished the bookkeeping job for the locksmith and will need to get them back to him within the next couple of days.

Today would have been my 26th wedding anniversary.

A long day

We drove to Eagle Pass this morning and took a truckload of clothing and food to a church there to pass out to the needy. We took the pastor of that church to lunch while we were there. We went to Captain Charles' Seafood Restaurant. I had the bass, salad, and french fries and it was delicious. But so much that I had to ask for a container to bring part of my meal home.

When we got back home, one of our neighbors was having what I assume was a birthday party for one of their children. They had a truck in the driveway playing VERY LOUD music for several hours and the children were running around in the yard enjoying it all. It was so loud that I was very glad when they were done and all was quiet again. But at least it was all over before dark.

I worked on the locksmith's books for a couple of hours this evening, but I didn't sleep at all good last night and I am so tired now that I am going to stop and go to bed.

What a Change!

Yesterday it got up to 87 degrees - this morning it is 54 degrees but so windy that it feels much colder.

I only worked until noon today. The locksmith brought over six more months of bookkeeping work for me yesterday evening... to finish out 2011. I'll work on that this weekend.

We had liver and onions, fried potatoes, mixed vegetables and homemade biscuits for supper last night. Now that is real comfort food.

We took the pickup to the Wash Tub carwash this afternoon. What a disaster! They broke off the compass that was mounted on the dash; didn't vacuum the inside good at all or use air freshener (after asking us which fragrance we wanted); and didn't wash the top of the pickup topper at all. We didn't think to check it before we left as there was quite a line of people there, but Sis called them and complained after we got home. I ended up getting a ladder and scrubbing the top myself. It was too far and too much traffic to take it back there today. I say if a 72-year-old woman with osteoporosis could get up there and do a decent job, those young guys working there could have done better.

A Funny

Someone sent me this through the email this morning and I got quite a laugh out of it:

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots.

Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART!

Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year.

You can do your bit by remembering to send an e-mail to at least one unstable person. My job is done!

Life is too short for negative drama & petty things. So laugh insanely, love truly, and forgive quickly!

From one unstable person to another... I hope everyone is happy in your head - we're all doing pretty good in mine!

Feb 5, 2012

After church we went to went to Olive Garden for lunch. Two of our friends from church went with us. I had been afraid it would be too rainy, but there was only a little drizzle. I had the Eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti, salad and bread sticks and it was delicious.

Sis had baked me a cake, so we had some of that with ice cream later this afternoon.

All three of my brothers and sister-in-law either called or emailed birthday wishes.

With all the birthday wishes, cards and phone calls I've gotten, I've decided maybe I should have another birthday next year. LOL
