Update on Moo

Since we have been unable to get any additional information from Moo's former owner, Sis took her to our veterinarian this morning. He determined that she has not been spayed, is only about 4 years old, and weighs just over 8 pounds. He went ahead and gave her the needed yearly shots, including rabies.

Moo is a lovable cat and seems very happy and content to live in Sis's room.

A new family member

We may have a new family member. An attorney who lives nearby has to move and is unable to take his cat, a pretty little black and white (female, we think), named Moo. I haven't met the attorney. A man from church was the go-between and brought the cat and all its belongings over. Initially we were told that the cat has been declawed (not true), has been spayed (who knows?), and is about 6 years old. She doesn't look that old. He brought her cage, litter box, bed, food and her food and water bowls. Fortunately she eats the same brand of cat food that Calvin does.

Our friend is going to try to get Moo's health records from the attorney. Otherwise we will have to take her to our vet and see what we can find out that way.

Calvin and Precious are not amused. So Moo is sleeping in Sis's room tonight and will be introduced to them gradually when we are able to closely supervise.

When we still had the old cat, Digger, she lived in Sis's room and spent nearly all her time in there and in Sis's bathroom. Moo and Sis made friends immediately, so that is good.

We shall see. This is supposed to be a trial period for a couple of days to see how it works out.

Feb 4, 2011 - A Snow Day in San Antonio

We woke to find snow on the ground this morning - perhaps half an inch. It is the first that stuck to the ground since I moved here in 1986.

I didn't go to work today.

Around noon, Sis went to the shopping center and picked up a birthday cake she had ordered for me. She also brought home pizza for lunch. It was a surprise. The cake is a carrot cake with butter cream frosting. Delicious.

It is a sunny day - around 50 degrees. The food pantry is going on today. There has been quite a crowd.

Jan 15

It is a gray rainy day as predicted, but it did quit for awhile this morning. We did go to breakfast at a little cafe that we haven't been at for a long time. Then we stopped at Wal-Mart where I got some office supplies I had been needing. I bought an electric adding machine and a ream of 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper.

Since then we have just been sitting around knitting and crocheting. My leg stays about the same - perhaps when the rainy cold weather lets up it will improve. I try to get up and walk around the house fairly often to keep everything moving.

It was 52 degrees the last time I checked online. That doesn't sound too bad.

Jan 14

It felt cold when I opened the door for Precious to go out this morning, but I heard that it is to warm up and be drizzly most of the day, with heavier rain overnight and into tomorrow.

I finally got to the pharmacy at Wal-Mart yesterday evening and got my prescription refills. I got two more skeins of white yarn while I was there. I'm knitting an afghan in a basket weave pattern.

I've been sleeping better at night this week, but I sure am having pains in my right leg - mostly above the knee. Probably arthritis, but I have a lot of pain when I walk, and if I go up steps, I must put the left foot up first and bring the right one up to meet it on each step. Oh the joys of aging!

Jan 12

I am feeling much better tonight. I think most of my problems were caused by the high pollen count yesterday.

It was predicted to get down to the mid-20's here last night but with the low cloud cover, it only got down to 33. The weatherman was reminding us that it was just 26 years ago today that San Antonio got that freak 13-inch snowstorm. That was the year before I moved to San Antonio.

I need to get to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription refills, but it was so cold when I came home today that I decided to wait another day. I have enough medicine for two or three more days anyway.
