A lazy Sunday

The August heat has arrived. It has been 100 degrees about all afternoon. When I opened the back door to let Precious outside, the heat hit me like a blast from opening an oven door. Needless to say, Precious didn't feel it necessary to stay outside for a very long time.

It is comfortable enough inside. We keep the air conditioning set on 81. A lot of people like to set it on 78, but it feels very cold to me indoors when it gets down to that tempeature.

When I got to church at 7 a.m. to open up, the thermostat in the sanctuary said 88. I turned it on and by the time the morning service started, it was comfortable in there. That is the reason I go in so early on Sundays. If I waited until closer to time for the service, it would still be hot in the sanctuary.

We went to Sea Island Shrimp House for lunch. I had two pieces of fish, two hush puppies, cole slaw and a small ear of corn. It was a nice dinner and almost more than I could eat. I should have brought part of the fish home. That, of course, called for an afternoon nap.

Then I read for awhile. I'm still reading At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. That book has such long chapters. I didn't make it through the whole chapter before I put it down until later. My eyes burn if I read too long.

We had leftover spaghetti with meat sauce for supper, with cooked yellow squash. For dessert we had mince pie.

We played a couple of games of Mexican dominoes after supper.
